In 2023, the Ecological Society of America (ESA) continued to thrive as the world’s largest community of ecologists. Our membership base, encompassing individuals from diverse backgrounds and institutions, grew to 8,422 members from 88 countries—a significant increase from 7,848 members in 2022.This growth underscores our commitment to advancing ecological science on a global scale.

Our work to build a professional organization for all ecologists was buoyed as always by our members’ willingness to collectively open doors for students and scientists who face institutional and social barriers to participation.

Apr 25, 2024 · About Latebreaking Poster Presentations. We invite submission of abstracts for latebreaking posters for the 2024 ESA Annual Meeting. Abstracts are encouraged to address the meeting focus, “Supporting Ecologists Throughout Their Careers”, if appropriate.

Founded by CMS students, new ESA section promotes marine and coastal ecology. University of South Florida College of Marine Science doctoral candidates Natalia López Figueroa and Michael Schram established the ESA coastal and marine ecology section to foster a space for marine scientists to present their research.

The field of ecology has much to offer in addressing pressing ecological problems at all scales.
