Sep 21, 2017 · In its current wiring setup it has a round ceiling box and the wire is hardwired into this box. The exterior plate has a knockout hole with clamps to secure the wires. My new garage door opener has a plug at the end. I got a round single outlet at my local electrical supply place, but they did not have a faceplate to match the box and outlet.

Jan 27, 2022 · It sounds like the plastic boxes you are looking at are only designed for use with cable. Boxes designed for use with conduit have rounds knockouts. Metal boxes must be used with metallic cables or conduit.
