As a beginner, I expect your Idle TC time to be 2-minutes or worse by Feudal, that's okay, you'll be getting better soon. I've found that they are pretty powerful in feudal age, particularly using maa into archers, due to their reduced barracks tech cost and the free 200 wood they receive on aging up.
