Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas says the current plan is for him to be ready in time for Opening Day next season a month after having season-ending surgery to repair a ruptured patellar tendon in his left knee.

Casas' recovery will be more deliberate than his rehab from an injury last year, which should alleviate the mental strain.

Triston Casas was blunt about his season-ending knee injury in his first meeting with reporters since it happened: “I’m living my worst nightmare right now."
