Some grocers are taking steps to stretch their existing egg supplies, the USDA found. It comes as the bird flu has caused egg prices to soar.

As egg prices soar due to the ongoing bird flu outbreak, Trader Joe's is limiting customers to a dozen eggs per purchase per day. Signs have been erected at Trader Joe's stores across the country, informing customers that they will be limited to a single carton of a dozen eggs per day to "ensure a consistent supply for all customers."

Trader Joe's and other retailers have recently moved to enact a purchase limit on eggs as a result of issues brought on by the avian bird flu crisis.
