The Friars gifted Denver, the defending champions, an empty-net goal less than three minutes into the Manchester Regional semifinal. Providence goalie, Philip Svedebäck, misplayed the puck behind his own net and it flipped out onto the unguarded crease where Denver’s Connor Caponi was able to knock it home just 2:25 into the game.

Denver showed it was the better team during that 20 minutes. Svedebäck made a nice stop at the horn, but it's been a tough regional semifinal for the Friars. Providence's best chance came from Trevor Connelly on the power play at the 17:43 mark, but the Friars were called for a hold just seconds later.

Maine’s season came to an end with a 5-1 loss to Penn State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Maine started the scoring with Bodie Nobes finding the twine, but Penn State controlled the rest of the first period.
