US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristie Noem on Tuesday misstated definition of Habeas Corpus 'the right of a person to challenge their detention in court' during a Senate hearing, claiming instead it was the opposite.

Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire inadvertently suggested President Donald Trump can suspend habeas corpus to detain illegal aliens while trying to dunk on Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

In reality, habeas corpus is the constitutional right of due process. But, appearing at a hearing on Tuesday, Noem defined it incorrectly as a "right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country.
