Ben Shelton has reached his first Australian Open semifinal by defeating Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 in an entertaining match.

The 21st seed Ben Shelton is through to his second Major semi-final at the Australian Open, the first in Melbourne. The young American ousted Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 in three hours and 50 minutes, remaining on the title course.

Ben Shelton battled to a four-set win over Lorenzo Sonego to reach his second grand slam semi-final. The big-serving American made his breakthrough at the Australian Open two years ago with a run to the quarter-finals on his debut before bettering that at the US Open.
