A spokesman for forces in the U.N. peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon says it is maintaining its positions despite warnings to move from the Israeli Defense Forces

U.N. peacekeepers in Lebanon have experienced a series of deliberate attacks by the Israeli military in recent days, but the peacekeeping force will maintain its positions along the border despite Israeli pressure to withdraw, according to a spokesman for the force, known as UNIFIL.

Israeli forces have spent much of the past year destroying Hamas' vast underground network in Gaza. They are now focused on dismantling tunnels and other hideouts belonging to Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon.
