New York’s highest appeals court declined to block Donald Trump’s sentencing in his hush money case, leaving the U.S. Supreme Court as Trump's likely last option.

New York’s Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court, refused to stop Trump’s sentencing Thursday morning, as the president-elect went to the court after both Merchan and a New York appeals judge declined to pause it while Trump appeals two orders Merchan issued upholding the guilty verdict.

Judge Juan Merchan has denied Donald Trump’s request to postpone his Friday sentencing for his hush money conviction, the judge said in a filing Monday.
