Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has invited Omar Abdullah to take oath as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir following the revocation of President's rule. A letter confirmed Abdullah's unanimous election as Leader of the Legislature Party,

The LG in his letter mentioned that he had received a letter from JKNC president Dr Farooq Abdullah on October 11, who informed that Omar Abdullah has been unanimously elected as Leader of the Legislature Party.

The oath-taking ceremony for the new government in Jammu and Kashmir is set for October 16 with Omar Abdullah invited to lead by LG Manoj Sinha.

Omar Abdullah was elected as the leader of the National Conference legislature party after a resounding victory of the party in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections.

JKNC VP Omar Abdullah has left Raj Bhawan after meeting with the Lt. Governor. During the meeting, he formally presented his claim to form the government in J&K, following the support from Congress.

Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra said the Congress has extended support to the National Conference, keeping the “spirit of INDIA alliance” in mind and for the betterment of the people.

National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Friday evening reached Raj Bhavan in Srinagar to stake claim to form government in Jammu and Kashmir.
