More than 1,000 flights were delayed at London Heathrow and Gatwick on Friday as fog created travel chaos for UK airports.

Much of the UK has been shrouded in fog in recent days and the weather is having an impact as airports attempt to resume their normal flight schedules.

Heathrow Airport has been forced to cancel as many as 90 flights as huge winds continue to batter the country, amid a number of weather warnings from the Met Office today

The mist and fog is expected to clear slowly on Saturday, according to the latest Met Office forecast. A Nats spokesperson said the widespread fog had led to temporary air traffic restrictions at several airports across the UK.
