Kyiv time on May 17, a total of 131 combat engagements had taken place on the front since the beginning of the day. The highest number of clashes was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Many Russian soldiers say they would see a cease-fire along the current front lines as a failure, hinting at the nationalist discontent the Kremlin could face in accepting a cease-fire.
