A fire that burned in Oakland, California, saw clouds of smoke rising nearly engulfing a busy freeway on Friday. The Oakland Fire Department said they have largely contained the blaze which began as a vegetation fire and Keller Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. local time.

The five-alarm fire, which officials have named the Keller fire, had burned about 15 acres and damaged two homes in an Oakland Hills area, the Oakland Fire Department said. It came one day before the 33rd anniversary of the 1991 Tunnel fire, which killed 25 people and destroyed 3,000 homes several miles north of the current blaze.

A five-alarm brush fire near Interstate 580 sparked evacuation orders in the Oakland Hills. The blaze comes amid a red flag warning in effect for the Bay Area due to dry and windy conditions. PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) were also in effect Friday due to the fire weather conditions,
