California is fighting back a day after the U.S. Senate voted to put the brakes on the state's clean vehicle policies.

California is preparing to sue the federal government in recover its right to set vehicle emissions standards, Rob Bonta, the state’s attorney general, told TechCrunch in a statement.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced on Thursday that the state will sue the Trump administration to maintain its authority to set its own vehicle emissions standards. This decision comes after Congress voted to overturn California's plan to phase out gasoline-fueled cars and trucks.
