Tamil Nadu governor RN Ravi on Monday walked out of Tamil Nadu assembly without reading his customary address for the second consecutive year, opposing what he described as disrespect to the national anthem and triggering a political controversy.

In the third such incident, Governor R.N. Ravi storms out of the Tamil Nadu Assembly claiming “insult” to national anthem; Chief Minister M.K. Stalin calls action “childish” as controversy erupts over the “Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu” State anthem.

At DMK's statewide protest demanding the removal of Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi accused the BJP of using him to trouble the Tamil Nadu government and insult Tamils.

The BJP's Tamil Nadu President, K Annamalai, criticized the state government for the recent controversy regarding the recitation of the state song 'Tamil Thai Vazhthu' and the national anthem in the Assembly.

Day after he walked out of the Assembly, posters with the hashtag 'Get Out Ravi' accusing the Tamil Nadu Governor of breaching protocol appeared across Chennai. Chief Minister MK Stalin earlier condemned the walkout and questioned Ravi's fitness for office.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi refused to deliver his customary address to the Assembly today and walked out in protest of the National Anthem not being sung at the beginning of the address.

Raj Bhawan said that upon the arrival of the Governor in the Assembly, only 'Tamil Tai Vazhdu' was played and not the National Anthem.
