Ben Simmons, an unrestricted free agent, is “probably” going to sign with a new team by next week, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported on Threads (hat tip to Brian Robb of MassLive ). Windhorst mentioned the Kings, Suns, Knicks and Celtics as teams that have been linked to Simmons, confirming previous reporting from Jake Fischer and Marc Stein.

Needless to say, neither of these offseason news items went over well with a large portion of the Boston faithful.

Four teams have emerged as suitors for Ben Simmons during the free agency period, including Phoenix, Boston, New York, and Sacramento.

Simmons was previously linked to the Knicks by insider Ian Begley of SNY, who reported the team still has a spot for a player at the veteran minimum signing. The Knicks could avoid the salary cap's second apron by signing Simmons and adding one rookie deal, according to Begley.
