The coldest winter in ten years is even harder to endure in Honesdale, as a rock salt shortage makes clearing smaller roads and driveways extremely difficult.

(WENY) -- With the recent back-to-back spells we've had of winter weather, people are trying to stock up on rock salt but can't. Stores across New York State like the Do It Center in Horseheads are dealing with the shortage.

More rock salt shipments to arrive later this week amid shortage

The rock salt shortage is impacting the entire Capital Region and beyond. On Friday Governor Kathy Hochul issued an executive order that declared a state disaster emergency. NEWS10 ABC talked to residents in one municipality about the impacts.
