The clean up has begun for some residents in rain-hit northern Australia but the flood threat is not over for others, with more showers and storms forecast.

While the threat of a cyclone hitting an already devastated North Queensland has subsided, a monsoon trough remains in place until the weekend, driving more showers, storms and flooding.
