FRISCO, Texas -- All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys are "close enough" on his second NFL contract following his rookie deal, in the words of Jerry Jones.

The Cowboys edge rusher will surpass the $40.25 million annual average of Ja'Marr Chase when a deal is completed.

The Cowboys are taking a direct approach with their expectations for Micah Parsons. New coach Brian Schottenheimer asked Parsons to show up for the voluntary workouts at The Star because it provides leadership and allows him to spread his message.
