The United States is still one of the most desired countries to live in, but its residents may not be the happiest.

It said one reason for declining well-being in the US is a rising number of people eating alone.Citing data from the American Time Use Survey, it found that in 2023, about a quarter of Americans ate all their meals alone the day before.

According to Thursday's World Happiness Report, the top 20 happiest countries include 14 western industrial countries, two countries from Latin America, and one from the Middle East. The United States has fallen to its lowest-ever position.
