Lester Holt has officially helmed his final broadcast as the host of NBC Nightly News. Following his final episode, his son, NBC Chicago anchor Stefan Holt, shared a heartfelt message to his dad and honored his long career.

Watch the newscast at 5:30 p.m. on KCRA 3. The award-winning journalist isn’t leaving the network. He will keep a full-time role at “Dateline” where he’s been the principal anchor since 2011. His “Nightly” exit will come a decade after he became the first Black anchor of the program, having replaced Brian Williams in 2015.
