(CBS) -- Some Bolingbrook homeowners said their sky-high water bills now have them considering moving out of the southwest suburb. The massive bills follow a rate hike from Illinois American Water.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Plans for a water reclamation facility moved forward at Tuesday's Bolingbrook Village Board meeting, after the Board approved a $7.315 million bid for phase 4 construction.

This new action represents Bolingbrook’s latest salvo against Illinois American Water, a company that has run the town’s waterworks for roughly a decade and increased rates along the way.

The financial commitment of the water agency has been based on the number of Illinois American customers in each community with Bolingbrook at nearly 79% and Homer Glen making up nearly 21%.
