How do snow, sleet and freezing rain differ? Here's how they could impact Louisiana.
Freezing rain, at its least intense, can create thin sheets of ice that lead to slick, dangerous conditions for drivers and pedestrians. At its worst, according to National Weather Service forecaster Christopher Bannan, thick ice forms on virtually every surface, from roads and sidewalks to rooftops and plants.
Moisture and a mix of precipitation should start to move into the metroplex from the southwest starting in the morning to the mid-morning hours.
So what are we expecting? Snow? Freezing rain? Normal, boring, cold rain? To answer that, we need to look at what atmospheric conditions need to be in order to get each precipitation type.
