Ding, dong, the wicked “starting strokes” at the Tour Championship is dead. The PGA Tour on Monday ditched the much-maligned format that created a staggered start to the FedEx Cup finale.

Under new format, all 30 players will begin the season finale at equal standing, ending a weighted system that was instituted six years ago.

The often-criticized “starting strokes” format is being dropped for a regular stroke-play format which will give all 30 players an equal chance to win the FedEx Cup.
