Beat the Florida heat, especially if you can't sleep, and head outside to see the Perseids meteor shower this weekend. One of the most popular meteor showers of the year, at their peak, the Perseids could send 50 to 75 "fireballs" across the night sky to amaze stargazers.

Skygazers have had a lot to look at recently. A couple of dueling meteor showers graced the skies earlier this week, but if you missed that then you can still catch perhaps the most popular meteor shower of the year: the Perseids meteor shower.

Meteor showers like the Perseids often gradually increase in intensity and then peak, before rapidly falling off. In other words, the curve is not symmetrical, and now is the time to start looking.
