The Black Sabbath bassist shared details of Osbourne’s final performance, including how “frail” he had become, in an essay for the Sunday Times. Butler said the iconic rocker needed the assistance of three people while rehearsing and had to sit down while he sang.
Osbourne has tragically passed away at the age of 76—just weeks after it was revealed that he was set to quit his residence in the U.S.
In Birmingham, England, the singer’s hometown, fans paid tribute by leaving flowers, beer and tequila. The rapper Drake was there to pay his respects, too.
“The moment he walked out on stage, it was just like he was shot with a bolt of lightning and he came alive,” Glendenning recalled. “I didn’t even think it was physically possible for a person that existed day to day the way he did to have that much energy and to turn on that much and to be that much of a showman.”
