As many families begin to rebuild after Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact robbed whole communities of the things they hold near and dear, one North Carolina family is grieving the loss of 11 of its family members.

Hurricane Helene has left a wake of death and destruction across Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and Tennessee after it made landfall in Florida on Sept. 26. Despite being downgraded to a tropical depression, hundreds were killed by the storm, millions are still without power, and the damage is estimated in the billions of dollars.

While sustainability was a driver for the construction of the brewery, and the site elevation was raised to mitigate a 100-year flood (which helped the damage), it could not prevent total flooding from such a catastrophic and powerful event as we saw at the end of September, and into early October.
