Former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy reportedly removes name from Saints search, to sit out 2025
McCarthy, whose contract expired with the Cowboys and wasn't signed to an extension, will sit out the 2025 season, according to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero. McCarthy removed his name from consideration for the New Orleans Saints' vacancy. The Saints are the last team to have a head coaching job open this offseason.

McCarthy spent six years in the college ranks before he broke into the NFL in 1993 on Marty Schottenheimer’s Kansas City staff as a quality control coach. He was a quarterback coach for the Chiefs and Green Bay Packers before leaving to become the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints in 2000.
