FALLBROOK, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Cal Fire crews are responding to a brush fire that broke out Friday morning in Fallbrook. The fire — referred to as the Mission Fire — was first reported just after 10 a.m. in the area of Overland Trail and Mission Road.

A late-morning brush fire blackened about five open acres and leveled an outbuilding Friday in a neighborhood just east of Camp Pendleton, authorities reported.

A plume of smoke was rising above Fallbrook Friday east of military base Camp Pendleton. Cal Fire San Diego was responding to a vegetation fire near Overland Trail and Mission Road north of state Route 76 and west of Interstate 15.
