The NCAA tournament last expanded from 65 to 68 teams in 2011 after CBS and WBD agreed to pay $10.8 billion to carry the men’s tournament for the next 14 years. CBS and WBD later signed an eight-year, $8.8 billion extension to continue to broadcast the tournament through 2032.

The NCAA's college football playoff model is currently being debated, and its college basketball postseason could soon be changed as well. At Big 12 spring meetings this week, NCAA president Charlie Baker revealed that one of his top priorities was to discuss expanding March Madness -- and it could be coming as soon as this year.

NCAA men's tournament marked the 14th since the event's most recent expansion from 64 to 68 teams in 2011. So far, reviews seem generally favorable, and two First Four participants (VCU in 2011 and UCLA in 2021) have gone all the way to the Final Four.
