Ajax conceded a 99th-minute equaliser against Groningen on Wednesday which has left their Eredivisie title hopes on the brink in one of the most monumental collapses in football history.

PSV, which hit the 100-goal plateau in league play on Wednesday, has notched a far healthier goal differential than Ajax, with a +62 margin dwarfing its rivals’ +33, Ajax had claimed command over the standings, though, thanks in part to winning both head-to-head battles: first at home in November before stunning PSV 2-0 in Eindhoven on March 30.

A dramatic last-minute goal from FC Groningen to make it 2-2 against Ajax has meant that PSV now only need to win the final game to ensure that they complete an incredible comeback in the Eredivisie title race.
