Donna Noble was probably the most adult companion of modern Doctor Who. She wasn't a slightly naïve young woman like Rose or Martha who fell in love with the Doctor.

Specifically, I had a bone to pick regarding the departure of Donna Noble, the blunt, hilarious, endearing companion to David Tenant’s Tenth Doctor, played by Catherine Tate.
