Wyatt was the son of Mike and Stephanie Rotunda. Wyatt's grandfather Robert Deroy Windham (Blackjack Mulligan), father, and two of his uncles (Barry and Kendall Windham) all wrestled in WWE.

He followed the footsteps of his grandfather, Robert Deroy Windham, and father, Mike Rontunda, into the wrestling business. However, he was not the only third-generation wrestler from the family.
