A strong swell and high tides this month washed waves against the stairs, which connect the Manresa Uplands campground to Sand Dollar beach, said State Parks Public Safety Superintendent Bill Wolcott.

The stairs connected the Manresa Uplands campground to Sand Dollar Beach. Surfers, campers and beachgoers have been using a path a few hundred yards south of the staircase, Wolcott said.
