Within hours of a federal lawsuit targeting Texas’ policy of letting its nearly 20,000 undocumented students qualify for lower public tuition rates, the 24-year-old law was no more.

The Justice Department Wednesday sued Texas for allowing young adult migrants, commonly referred to as “Dreamers,” to access in-state tuition at public colleges and universities

The Trump administration argued that the Texas Dream Act of 2001 illegally benefits undocumented students. The state’s conservative attorney general agreed.
