A Denver plan to constrict where developers can build gas stations could scuttle up to $50 million in pending projects.

Construction of new gas stations will be significantly limited in Denver after City Council approved an ordinance enacting the restrictions in a meeting Tuesday.

Denver has limited where new gas stations can be built in the city despite pushback from developers and affected property owners who raised concerns about the legality of the retroactive nature of the approved changes.

The ordinance makes it so gas stations cannot be built within a quarter of a mile of another gas station or light rail station.
