King's novel is effective at telling this story, but the film, although popular, falls a bit short. Cujo was directed by Lewis Teague, who later made another King adaptation, Cat's Eye, but he wasn't a top-notch filmmaker of the era.

Roy Lee (Barbarian) is on board to produce the film, which does not yet have a writer attached. This won’t be Lee’s first time at the Stephen King rodeo. He already earned his bona fides producing both It movies, Salem’s Lot, Starz’s The Stand, and Mike Flanagan’s Doctor Sleep.

Darren Aronofsky is in talks to direct an adaptation of the Stephen King horror novel 'Cujo' about a killer St. Bernard for Netflix.
