As temperatures drop, a group of students at Craven Community College is taking action to support those experiencing homelessness by transforming plastic bags into durable sleeping mats.
The project involves various tasks, from smoothing and cutting the bags to crocheting them into mats. "I'm crocheting plarn, which is plastic yarn we made out of grocery bags," said Diane Burrell.
