An air quality alert has been issued for much of the Chicago area Wednesday afternoon as Canadian wildfire smoke once again impacts the region's levels.

In addition to the Midwest and eastern US, the smoke from the fires has caused air quality to drop to unhealthy levels in parts of the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta, where fires are burning, according to AirNow.gov.
