It's been a full year since the New Jersey Legislature has done anything with a bill that would ban smoking in Atlantic City's casinos.
The future of a New Jersey offshore wind project appears in jeopardy after one of two parent companies announced pausing its involvement.
“The legislation’s impact includes a broadening of the types and geographical location of projects which qualify for Aspire incentives, as well as the size of available tax credits and other financial considerations for program applications,” NAIOP said in a Jan. 24 statement. “Make no mistake, this is a big win for the CRE industry.”

On a fourth quarter earnings call Jan. 30, Shell plc told analysts that the company was pausing its involvement in the Atlantic Shores offshore wind farm project. The company said it will take a $956 million write-off.
A pullout from offshore wind could hurt communities such as Paulsboro, where a wind-related port promised jobs and town revenue.
Shell has withdrawn from New Jersey’s first offshore wind farm, Atlantic Shores — marking the latest hit to the state’s clean energy plans. Spokespeople told NJ Advance Media on Thursday that the developer remained committed to the project.
