Texas Softball’s Teagan Kavan delivered a breakout performance on the biggest stage, outdueling the nation’s best to become the last pitcher standing at the WCWS.

Kavan's unassuming nature disguises a fierce competitor trusted to deliver Texas its first national championship in Game 3 on Friday.

Freshman Cambria Salmon did a fine job in her first two innings in relief of starter Mac Morgan — her wicked changeup is something to behold — but the youngster ran into trouble in the fateful fifth inning of a scoreless game. White remained planted in the dugout with Kavan at the ready, even after Salmon loaded the bases with a two-out walk.
