Microsoft Excel now lets you run Python scripts on images to detect sharpness, edit visuals, and analyze metadata.

Microsoft added a bunch of useful capabilities to Excel this month, including one that was highly requested by customers.

With this new feature, users can type in Python code in the Excel app. The calculations are then run on a Microsoft cloud server and are returned to the Excel app, with plots and visualizations.

Within the Python in Excel environment, you can directly create and interact with dataframes (the fundamental data structure in Python's powerful pandas library).
