The Leelanau Conservancy ⁠announced plans late Thursday to reopen the long-shuttered ski resort near Traverse City as a public space.

After closing in 2000, locals and ski tourists alike wondered what would happen to the old Sugar Loaf resort property. The Leelanau Conservancy said the iconic 285-acre property is ready to be reborn as a spot for outdoor lovers.
