Beatles legend Paul McCartney is being called a mensch after he was spotted celebrating Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, at a synagogue in Santiago, Chile Saturday.

Paul McCartney, the former Beatle, attended Yom Kippur services on Saturday with his Jewish wife in Santiago, Chile. He had performed a solo concert there on Friday night, the beginning of the Jewish holiday of atonement.

Paul McCartney helped a couple get engaged on stage during a soundcheck ahead of a sold-out show in Chile. The 82-year-old spotted Chilean couple Yamil Alamo and Leonora Pereira dressed as 1970s versions of himself and his late wife Linda McCartney holding a sign that said: "Paul: Give us a handshake and we'll get married."

While McCartney himself is not Jewish, the former Beatles star in the photo could be seen donning a kippa and standing next to his Jewish wife, Nancy Shevell, at the service.
