A preliminary 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Malibu at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, following a 3.7 quake that hit the same area just before midnight, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Friday morning's quake had an epicenter 7.

Three earthquakes shake parts of Riverside County, Malibu and across Westside and the San Fernando Valley. There are no reports of damage.

While just a coincidence in timing coming on the heels of the storm, the magnitude 3.7 quake struck just before midnight and was centered just 7 miles northwest of Malibu, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Malibu area was rattled by a second minor earthquake within a roughly seven-hour period Saturday as the area recovered from this week’s rainstorms and officials watched carefully for signs of possible debris flows.
