Peaceful Tesla protests have taken place across the country—but some dealerships have also been hit with acts of vandalism, including gunfire and arson, in protests apparently directed at Elon Musk.

The FBI announced on Monday the creation of a task force intended to “crack down on violent Tesla attacks,” a move that follows a spate of such incidents appearing to target Elon Musk’s electric car manufacturer.

Today we’re talking about the protests against Tesla, which have been branded on social media under the hashtag Tesla Takedown. The protests are, of course, a reaction to Elon Musk, who has managed to install himself as basically a not-so-shadow president who is tearing the federal government apart, leaving confusion and destruction in his wake.

"When Elon Musk started interfering with global politics, I started getting uncomfortable with that and I didn't want to be associated with his brand," says former Tesla car owner Jonathan Coupland. The 50-year-old said he was uncomfortable owning his old car because of the Tesla's CEO's "influence" in politics,
