Kraft Heinz is spending $3 billion to upgrade its U.S. factories, its largest investment in its plants in a decade, even as executives say consumer sentiment is at its second-lowest point in 70 years,

To increase efficiency, lower costs, and bring products to market faster, Kraft Heinz ( NASDAQ: KHC) is investing $3B to upgrade its U.S. plants, its largest infrastructure investment in 10 years, Reuters reported Wednesday. The company operates 30 facilities across the U.S. with nearly all of its products made domestically.

The  May 14 announcement marks the largest such investment made by the company in a decade, and will cover the 30 plants Kraft Heinz operates across the U.S.
