By John Revill BASEL, Switzerland (Reuters) -Austria won the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Swiss host city Basel on Saturday, in the country's first victory since bearded drag queen Conchita Wurst won in 2014.

With his countertenor voice (the highest range among men), the young singer, whose real name is Johannes Pietsch, took home the glass microphone trophy for Austria.

Austria won its third Eurovision Song Contest after a glittering grand final in neighboring Switzerland, with singer JJ earning the continent’s votes for the operatic pop anthem “Wasted Love.”
