Work to replace a Surrey hospital which was built using reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (Raac) has been scheduled to begin by 2028, the government says. Plans to rebuild Frimley Park were announced in September.

Wes Streeting said the cost of each new hospital would be between £1bn and £1.5bn. Both sites have been affected by problems with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (Raac). Streeting said the 40 new hospitals proposed in 2019 by the Conservatives would go ahead but they would take a decade longer to complete,

The long-awaited rebuilding of Watford General Hospital will not start until 2032 at the earliest, the government has announced. Construction work for the project, which could cost around £1.2bn, will begin between 2032 and 2034.
